wcbstv.com - MTA Unwraps Budget, Trims The Fat

wcbstv.com - MTA Unwraps Budget, Trims The Fat: "New York leaders are not happy with the MTA's plans for more fare hikes, and the state is launching a new review of the agency's $11 billion budget.

State Comptroller Thomas Dinapoli confirmed that his department is looking into the MTA's finances. A report is due in September.

The Comptroller wants the transit agency to find ways to save money and consolidate services. Previous reviews found that the MTA was keeping two sets of budget records, in order to justify fare hikes."
